Disability Advocates Ask Governor Ducey to Make People with Disabilities a Priority for COVID-19 Vaccine

The Arizona Center for Disability Law (ACDL), along with the Arc of Arizona, Arizona Commission for the Deaf and the Hard of Hearing, and numerous advocacy organizations, hosted a press conference calling upon Governor Doug Ducey to prioritize the COVD-19 vaccine for people with disabilities.

On February 26, 2021, ACDL and the other disability rights organizations sent a letter to Governor Ducey, requesting amendments to the COVID-19 Vaccination Plan to improve accessibility and ensuring effective communication for individuals who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing, and developing a plan to vaccinate those who are homebound.

ACDL invited the Governor’s Office to engage in conversation with disability rights organizations to ensure equitable access to vaccines. To date, the Governor’s Office has not responded to the letter.

A copy of the letter is here.

A recording of the press conference can be found on the ADCL Facebook page.
