Last week, the Cochise County Board of Supervisors approved settlement of a lawsuit filed by the Arizona Center for Disability Law (ACDL) in U.S. District Court in 2020, regarding curbside voting in county elections.

Cochise County will allow for curbside voting on a printed paper ballot for voters who wish to vote on Election Day but are unable to leave their vehicles or enter the Voting Center due to a disability. To vote curbside in Cochise County, a voter must request this accommodation 15 days in advance of a scheduled election day, and not sooner than 30 days before the Election Day.

To request this accommodation, contact the Elections Department at (520) 432-8970 or email elections@cochise.az.gov. The voter will need to provide the following information for verification purposes:

• Full Name
• Residence Address
• Contact Information
• Date of Birth

In-Person Voting

For voters who would like to vote in person, accessible voting devices are available at all Vote Centers on Election Day. Accessible voting devices have adjustable visual displays and headphones to have the ballot read to the voter. In addition to the accessible voting devices, each polling location will have magnifying instruments, large print versions of publicity pamphlets, and trained poll workers who are ready to assist you. Emergency voting is available in person at the Recorder’s Office the Monday before an election.

Alternate Ballot Types

Cochise County voters may request braille or large print ballots by calling the Elections Department at (520) 432-8970 at least ten (10) days prior to an election.

Special Election Boards

Voters who need assistance due to a confining illness or disability may request a Special Election Board to help you to vote in your home or health care facility. Call the Cochise Recorder’s Office at (520) 432-8358 or email recorder@cochise.az.gov for more information and include the following information for verification purposes:

• Full Name
• Residence Address
• Contact Information
• Date of Birth

Active Early Voting

If you want to vote early (also called voting by mail) you may request to be placed on the Active Early Voter List (AEVL). You will be mailed a ballot for each election that you are eligible for and can vote from your own home. You can return your voted ballot by mail, or drop it in person at a location designated by the County. Register to be an active early voter at ServiceArizona or contact the Cochise County Recorder’s Office at 520-432-8358.
